Nadco Plastics
2D Layout Plans for a Manufacturing Facility

Setting the scene

Plastiques NADCO is a manufacturer specializing in plastic components, particularly caps for household products such as detergents and soaps. Its facility includes multiple production lines and a large number of machines, resulting in a dense and constantly evolving environment.

As part of its growth and optimization strategy, the company aimed to completely redesign its factory layout to integrate new equipment and improve overall operational efficiency.

However, several challenges stood in the way:

  • A warehouse filled with machinery, making manual measurements complex
  • Lack of up-to-date and reliable plans
  • Difficulty testing different layouts without disrupting production

In this context, pointSpace was mandated to digitize the existing environment and provide practical tools to support the reconfiguration of the facility.

Proposed solutions

To meet Plastiques NADCO’s needs, pointSpace deployed a comprehensive approach combining data capture and modeling:

  • 3D Laser Scanning of the Facility
  • Full scan of machinery and production lines performed on-site by Maxime.
  • Accurate capture of the environment despite the density of equipment.

  • 2D AutoCAD Plan (Top View)
  • Creation of a detailed plan reflecting the current state of the facility.
  • A clear and structured base for layout planning.

  • AutoCAD Block Creation
  • Each machine was modeled as an individual block (entity).
  • Equipment can be easily moved within the plan.
  • Layout Simulation
  • Layout Simulation Tool
  • Interactive plan allowing the client to test different configurations
  • Direct support for decision-making when adding new machines

Gains

Thanks to our services, our client was able to:

  • Optimize its facility layout
  • Test multiple configurations without physically moving equipment.

  • Increase operational flexibility
  • Quickly adjust layouts by repositioning machines virtually.

  • Reduce risks and errors
  • Rely on precise data instead of manual measurements or estimates.
  • Accelerate growth planning
  • Strategically integrate new equipment with confidence and efficiency.
