3D Scan and As-Built Plans of the St-James Theatre

Setting the scene

Formerly the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), the Théâtre St-James has since been transformed into one of Montreal's most prestigious event venues. Located in the heart of Old Montreal, the Théâtre St-James hosts a wide variety of private and corporate events. The theater was looking for a more useful solution for planning and presenting the various layouts of its function rooms.


In an event venue or heritage building such as the St-James Theatre, accurate floor plans are essential to organize spaces, anticipate logistical needs and support coordination between internal teams, clients and vendors. Reliable room documentation helps teams better visualize possible layouts, prepare events more efficiently and reduce uncertainty during space planning.


Through 3D scanning, drafting and the creation of an object library, pointSpace provided the St-James Theatre with a practical tool to plan its reception rooms more effectively. Teams can generate floor plans adapted to different event formats, present layout options to clients and make better use of each space.


This approach supports building documentation, 3D laser scanning, as-built drawings and space planning needs, which are especially valuable for event venues, heritage buildings, commercial spaces and real estate managers across Canada.

Gains

The proposed tool enabled them to produce room plans more efficiently for the rental of their spaces. What's more, they were able to provide these plans to their customers, enabling them to quickly visualize the dimensions of the different rooms.


The tool was also used to improve the look and feel of their website, offering greater visibility by displaying the different possible configurations according to the type of event.
